RAWALPINDI: A burqa-clad man was allegedly caught by security guards outside District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital labour room and handed over to police over doubts of kidnapping a newborn.

The suspect, 18-year-old Mohammad Ahsan, was identified as a student of a seminary.

Ahsan had used his mother’s burqa while she and her husband were away, according to police.

The investigation officer (IO) said, “He thought he will tease and joke with women in the ward, but landed in a police lockup instead.”

DHQ Hospital Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) Dr Irfan Khiljee said, “It may have been an attempt to kidnap newborns but he was caught by the guards.”
