LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is expected to suffer a split in its vote bank in Hafizabad after ignoring three-time parliamentarian Liaqat Abbas Bhatti, a local media outlet reported on Sunday.
The party has awarded ticket to Shaukat Bhatti for NA-87, the only seat from Hafizabad.
Part of Gujranwala Division, Hafizabad has three provincial assembly seats as well. Tickets for provincial assembly seats have been awarded to Shaukat Bhatti’s colleagues.
On the other hand, Liaqat Abbas Bhatti and his colleagues, who emerged victorious as independent candidates during 2013 general elections have not been given party tickets, leading to resentment from a major group in the district.
Liaqat Abbas Bhatti has said that he is determined to contest the elections at all costs despite not being given PTI ticket.
