Former federal finance minister Ishaq Dar has said that he will return to Pakistan to face the corruption proceedings when doctors advise him to.
Dar, who has been in London reportedly for medical treatment since October 2017, was declared absconder by an accountability court in a corruption reference. The Supreme Court had also temporarily suspended the Senate membership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader after he failed to appear before the court.
In a video making the rounds on social media, visibly angry Dar could be seen surrounded by journalists.
When pressed about his return to Pakistan, he said that he will return to the country on doctors’ advice, not on media’s.
The former minister refused to comment on his current health condition stating that doctors have his reports. “I have also sent my recent medical reports to the court,” Dar said.
When a reporter told him to be “a Pakistani [and face corruption trial]”, Dar told him that he is “more Pakistani than anyone else”.
On Sunday, the former minister was spotted in London outside Harley Street Clinic where Kulsoom is under treatment. When the journalist tried to talk to him, Dar refused and walked away.
