PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) and Pakistan People’s Party  (PPP) leaders on Monday said that big signboards of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidates and non-transfers of senior bureaucrats in the province is pre-poll rigging and demanded of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to take notice of it.

Addressing a press conference, PPP leader and former MPA Nighat Orakzai and ANP Haroon Bilour said that the big signboards displayed by PTI candidates in Peshawar is in clear violations of the rules and regulations of ECP and demanded their removal.

They complained that ECP officials have assured of its removal within three days but did not do so till yet, which is indeed a matter of great concern for candidates of other political parties.

“Some bureaucrats in KP were reshuffled but most important secretaries, including the departments of establishment, finance, health and education are still serving on the same posts appointed by PTI regime which might influence the results of the elections.

They said that senior bureaucrats transferred to others districts by the caretaker government should be transferred to other provinces imperative for transparency and fairness in the upcoming general elections besides provision of level playing fields to all candidates.

“Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) and Water and Sentential Service Peshawar (WSSP) officials are still executing developmental works, which is against rules of ECP,” they maintained.

They alleged that PTI workers tore their party flags and posters and it has infuriated their workers and the responsibility would be on PTI if the law and order situation worsens in the city.
