MURREE: The returning officer (RO) of NA-57 was suspended by an appellate tribunal for accepting allegedly tampered and incomplete documents submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
The tribunal was headed by Justice Ibadur Rehman.
RO Haider Ali was summoned along with the former PM or his counsel by the tribunal.
Earlier, the nomination papers of the PML-N leader were challenged by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Omer Abbasi and a lawyer, Masood Abbasi.
They had claimed that the former PM had forged an unreal value of his assets in his nomination papers and RO Ali allegedly knew this and still accepted the papers.
