Sindh governor’s brother passes away in Karachi

KARACHI: Tariq Umar, brother of Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair and former National Assembly member Asad Umar, passed away on Sunday morning here in Karachi.

He was one of the six sons of Major General (retd) Ghulam Umar, who was a close aide to former military ruler General Yahya Khan. Tariq Umar, who was suffering from lung cancer, was under treatment at a private hospital of the metropolis.

His funeral prayers will be offered after Asr prayers at the Sultan Masjid in the Defence Housing Authority here today (Monday). He will be buried at the army graveyard at the Chanesar Goth. Asad Umar took to Twitter to thank his followers and supporters for sending in condolence messages.

In a condolence message, Pakistan Muslim League-N President Shehbaz Sharif extended sympathies for the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in peace. “I offer my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace,” he said.
