Shehbaz to launch PML-N’s election campaign from Karachi

–PML-N president says Pakistan will suffer if elections aren’t transparent

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif will launch Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) campaign for the upcoming general elections from Karachi on Monday.

Shehbaz will go to Karachi for two days. He is expected to address the party rally and also visit constituencies where the party has fielded candidates.

The former Punjab chief minister is also reportedly contesting the upcoming elections from Karachi.

Earlier on Sunday, Shehbaz said that Pakistan would suffer irreparable damage if the upcoming general elections are not transparent.

Former Punjab chief minister made these remarks during a meeting with PML-N lawyers forum in Lahore. The meeting was also attended by Naseer Bhatta and Syed Mushahid Hussain.

“The nation will reject the politics of chaos against performance,” he remarked. “There is our performance on one hand and on the other, there is nothing but false promises,” he added.

Shehbaz also said that Pakistan faced two major problems during last general elections: load shedding and terrorism. “PML-N government worked towards eliminating both of these problems,” he added.

On Saturday, the PML-N announced the names of its candidates for national and provincial assembly seats from Punjab. Shehbaz will contest polls from NA-132 and NA-192. Maryam Nawaz will contest elections from NA-125 Lahore. Shehbaz’s son Hamza Shehbaz will contest polls from NA-124.

Former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique will face Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in NA-131. The party has fielded Ahsan Iqbal from NA-78, Khawaja Asif from NA-73, Rana Sanaullah from NA-106 and Abid Sher Ali from NA-108.

The PML-N has fielded Ayaz Sadiq against PTI’s Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry in NA-133 Lahore.
