NAB wants 23 bureaucrats ‘close to Sharif family’ placed on ECL

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman was asked by the bureau’s Lahore office to take steps required to place the names of 23 bureaucrats on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The 23 bureaucrats were believed to be close associates of the Sharif family.

Moreover, the bureaucrats allegedly misused their authority and were involved in various corruption cases, according to a NAB spokesperson.

The spokesperson also said that a list had been prepared pertaining to officers that enjoyed close proximity with the Sharif family and the perks and privileges given to those officers.

Persons on the list reportedly include Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Jan Khan, Lahore Development Authority (LDA) City development partners Malik Asif, Mian Tahir Javed, Abdul Rasheed Ahmed, Shahid Shafiq and Ibrahim Bhatti, Paragon City Finance Director Farhan Ali and Manager Shahzad Waheed, Quaid-i-Azam Solar Power Plant (QASPP) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Najam Shah, Power Development Company (PDC) CEO Syed Farrukh Shah, Gujranwala Waste Management Company CEO Wasim Ajmal and former Faisalabad Industrial Company (FIC) chairman Muhammad Aslam Qasim.
