Traffic warden stops woman to ask for her phone number, gets thrashed

A woman on Friday evening thrashed a traffic assistant after he allegedly asked for her phone number, a private media outlet reported.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Shahdara area of the provincial capital where the warden, Aqeel, stopped a rickshaw that was going from Lahore to Kot Abdul Malik, and asked the woman passenger for her phone number. Reacting to it, the woman slapped the warden.

She then started to bash the traffic assistant, who fled the scene.

A video of the incident, which has been making rounds over the internet, shows the traffic warden being beaten up by the woman while other traffic officers try to save their colleague.

The woman claimed that when she refused to give him her number before the traffic warden misbehaved with her and starting to abuse. She slapped him which could be seen in the video clip.

CTO Malik Liaquat taking notice of the incident have directed City SP Asif Siddique to probe the incident and present a report in this regard.
