TAXILA: Workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Taxila stand divided as one camp is led by PML-N Rawalpindi chapter President Sardar Mumtaz Khan and the other is led by former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
In the 2013 elections, Nisar garnered 102,142 votes and announced that he would contest the upcoming general elections as an independent candidate.
On the other hand, Mumtaz was waiting for the party to award him a ticket for the National Assembly (NA) seat.
However, if PML-N did award a ticket to Mumtaz, the party’s vote bank would be divided and work in favour of Nisar’s opponent, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader (PTI) Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
The PTI leader won the election against Nisar last time as well.
