PFA DG, team attacked, held hostage during Murree raid

MURREE: A team of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) led by its director general Noorul Amin Mengal was on Saturday attacked and later held hostage by the management of a local hotel during inspection of the premises.

A PFA spokesperson said that Mengal and his team were about to seal a hotel owned by Raja Ashfaq Sarwar over poor hygiene when they were attacked by several people. He added that the team was also held hostage for some time before being rescued by the local administration.

Earlier, tourists had boycotted Murree after several incidents of hooliganism and violence by local residents and shopkeepers was reported by visitors.
