Gadani rescue operation: Bodies of two missing minors recovered

GADANI: The bodies of two missing minors were recovered from Gadani beach after a search and rescue operation resumed on Saturday morning.

The tragedy took place on Friday when 17 members of a family, while picnicking, drowned off at Gadani beach in the coastal area of Lasbela, Balochistan.

Rescuers recovered the bodies of four women and while 11 other members of the family were rescued. The search operation was halted on Friday after the sundown, while two children of the family were still missing.

Last week, two young men drowned at Karachi’s Sandspit beach. The young men were later identified as 22-year-old Osama and 19-year-old Faraz.

Drowning incidents have increased over the period of one year.

On May 23 last year, at least six people drowned in separate drowning incidents in Karachi. In the first incident, four school friends drowned while bathing off in Sandspit beach, Karachi.

Three others drowned off Sea View, one was rescued, while bodies of other two were recovered.
