Aamir Liaquat fails to mention his ‘2nd marriage’ in nomination papers

KARACHI: TV host and politician Dr Aamir Liaquat failed to disclose to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) details regarding his alleged second marriage.

Contesting from NA-245 Karachi on a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ticket, Liaquat’s alleged second marriage with Syeda Tooba Anwar was not mentioned in the nomination papers filed for the upcoming general elections 2018, while his first wife, Bushra Amir, was mentioned.

In his nomination papers, Liaquat has mentioned his qualification till masters, excluding the doctorate degree. He got his Masters degree in 2013. He was alleged of keeping a fake doctorate degree in past, a claim that he denied.

He previously served as a member of National Assembly (MNA) from 2002 to 2007 and was minister of state for religious affairs. Earlier, he was a member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) until 2017.
