SUKKAR: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar on Friday addressed a dinner party hosted by Sukkar Bar Association and said that all suo moto notices taken by the Supreme Court (SC) were related to the fundamental rights of people of Pakistan.
Commenting on the allegations levelled against the Returning Officers (ROs) ahead of general elections 2018, the CJP said that people should refrain from talking against them as they are bipartisan. He added that ROs must be given the due respect that they deserve. However, he said that in case of any complaints against the ROs, people should resort to SC for redress.
He said that the courts are not victimising any particular group, and only want to work towards the issues faced by the people.
He denied the allegations of interfering in the affairs of the legislature and said that we, in fact, look towards them for changes and reforms in the law.
He said that providing justice is not only the job of the judiciary, but the bar associations also have to play a crucial role in achieving the end goal of justice for all. He said that the countries that have progressed have had a special focus on education, without which it is really difficult to bring the required changes in the society.
