Saad owns assets worth Rs178.4 million

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique owns assets worth more than Rs178.413 million.

According to the documents submitted by Saad before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he has declared the ownership of a house in DHA worth Rs48,231,020, a property of 16 kanal worth Rs34,680,590 and another 16 kanal property worth Rs34,595,523. He also owns a property near the Lohari gate, which he has mentioned as his ancestral property worth Rs125,000. In his affidavit, he has given an oath that he has never obtained any loan for an amount of two million rupees from any bank nor has he obtained any loan in the name of a spouse or any of his dependents.

Saad has declared the ownership of a business of marketing and consultancy with the name of Saadain Associates in DHA worth Rs29,884,768. He has mentioned in his details that he has only one Honda Civic car (LEC14-3311) worth Rs2,557,455. The former minister has declared three accounts in three different banks where a sum of 14,303,175 has been deposited in the shape of cash, prize bonds and loans.

The documents mention him as a creditor of Rs29,500,000 which he owed from his first cousin which he was paying pack in installments without interest. According to the details submitted by the former minister, he earned Rs38,978,484 from his business in 2017 while during 2016 his business income was 29,965,081.

Saad has also revealed in the documents that the two cases that had been lodged against him in Lohari Police station under the anti-terrorism act had been withdrawn by the government.

The former minister is the husband of two wives, Ghazala Saad and Shafaq Hera. He has one son Rohan Rafique and two daughters Ramisha Rafique and Filza Rafique. Saad has submitted his nomination papers for NA-131 where he will contest against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
