–Labour minister says business community plays vital role in economic development
LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister (CM) Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi on Thursday approved the release of additional funds worth Rs74.4 million for the treatment of deserving patients. The amount will be utilised for free treatment of deserving patients suffering from fatal diseases including cancer and transplantation of liver and kidney.
According to a statement issued here, the chief minister said these funds had been provided to fulfill the need of providing immediate treatment facilities to the disadvantaged patients and this act would heal the wounds of the ailing humanity.
“Treatment of patients is not a favor to anybody but the duty of every government,” he said, adding that the people had full rights over the resources of the government.
He also said the caretaker set up was striving for public service according to its given mandate and provision of necessary cooperation and support was essential for the treatment of needy patients. “For that purpose, provision of funds is a priority agenda.”
Dr Hasan Askari said the provision of healthcare and other facilities was a starting point of good governance and fulfillment of this agenda would be ensured within the given timeframe and efforts would be made to provide every possible relief to the people at every stage.
‘BUSINESS COMMUNITY PLAYS VITAL ROLE IN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT’:
Meanwhile, Provincial Caretaker Minister for Labour and Livestock Mian Nouman Kabir said that business community played a pivotal role in the uplifting of the economy and all-out measures would be taken to solve their problems.
Addressing a meeting of the business community at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he said, “Measures would be taken for the upgradation of healthcare facilities in industrial states.”
“No stone would be left unturned to provide relief to the common man in our short constitutional span,” he added.
The minister said there was a huge potential in the livestock sector and problems like employment and poverty could be tackled by promoting this sector.
He also said that there was a dire need to promote traditional culture of Punjab to promote livestock as an increase in the investment in the livestock sector and dairy development was the need of the hour.
“The caretaker government is working to reduce milk prices to provide relief to the common man and good news in this regard is expected shortly,” he further said.
Replying to a question, Mian Nouman said that basic duty of the caretaker government was to ensure transparent elections and the government would discharge this national obligation in a befitting manner.
