KARACHI: CCTV footage of the Maqsood ‘encounter’ incident recently came to light and showed that he was killed in a fake ‘encounter’.
The rickshaw carrying the deceased can be seen overturning in the video following which police personnel surround it.
Moreover, police officials can be seen forcing Maqsood out of the vehicle and then shooting at him.
Earlier on January 20, police officials claimed that they had killed a wanted suspect, Masood, and later changed their statement and said that the deceased had died due to a shootout between police and the real suspect.
Sheikh Muhammad, Maqsood’s father, said, “My son was martyred by the police and I have not received any justice.”
“He was not carrying a weapon; I demand that the authorities release the CCTV video so that people can know the truth,” he added.
The case’s charge sheet claims that police official Tariq shot Maqsood from close range and gunned down two other people as well.
