LODHRAN: A man along with father and relatives tortured to death his former wife over demand to return dowry.
Police said that Gul Naz Bibi, got married to Allah Rakha, a resident of Burhanpur, two years ago and she was staying with parents in Ameerpur Station, over differences with husband for last three months.
A few days earlier, a panchayat attended by the elders from the two sides decided separation between the couple and return of dowry.
The lady along with her parents when reached the house of in-laws, the accused, Allah Rakha, along with his father and relatives attacked her with batons.
The woman was tortured to death by former husband and his allies. The body was shifted to hospital for postmortem.
The police arrested Bahar Shah, father-in-law of the deceased while other culprits managed to escape.
The police after registering a case into the incident started raids to arrest other culprits.
