ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has once again issued summons to the former principal secretary to prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad and asked him to appear on June 22.

Sources privy to the development stated that anti-graft watchdog has decided to quickly conclude the mega scandal of Ashiana-e-Iqbal Housing Society and then send a reference to the accountability court. The action will be taken against Fawad under ordinance 1999 if he failed to appear before NAB on the fixed date, they added.

It was told that Fawad was summoned in-connection to Ashiyana-e-Iqbal scandal again as he had failed to answer the question last time. NAB had previously summoned him in the months of February and April.

Moreover, NAB had also received the complete detail of the assets owned by Fawad from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Fawad is facing allegations in the reference that he being the secretary to the project director of Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC) at that time had played a role in the cancellation of a bid to one company to favour another. The NAB had launched investigations into the case in November 2017.

In 2014, a large number of people had conducted a press conference and also staged a protest outside Lahore Press Club (LPC) against Paragon Housing Society, a housing society allegedly owned by ex-federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The scam was said to be worth billions of rupees.
