On this day in 2017: Pakistan thrash India in CT final by 180 runs

LAHORE: On this day a year ago, Pakistan thrashed arch-rival India by 180 in final of Champions Trophy 2017.

Batting first Pakistan scored 338/4 with Fakhar Zaman scoring his first international century. Pakistani batsmen including Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, and Muhammad Hafeez played short but effecting innings.

Chasing the huge total, Indian batting collapsed earlier in the chase as Muhammad Amir took the wickets of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Shekhar Dhawan and brought India under pressure.

Pandaya was the only Indian batsman who resisted in the chase.

Pakistan got India all out on 158, making it one of the biggest win over arch-rivals.

Remembering the day, International Cricket Council tweeted: “ a year ago… Pakistan won !

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) also tweeted and wrote: “ in 2017: Pakistan’s eight ranked team created history by winning (Eight team event). In this special presentation, we recall the incredible journey, narrated by the team members, head coach and chief selector.”
