QUETTA: Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem will face South African Moruti Mthalane for International Boxing Federation (IBF) flyweight world title fight on July 15 in  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Waseem will be featured on the undercard in Kuala Lumpur, with Manny Pacquiao featuring in the main card bout.

Waseem, Pakistan’s only World Boxing Council (WBC) title winner, has remained undefeated in his eight international fights. On the other hand, his opponent, Mthalane, is an experienced fighter with the record of 35 wins out of his 37 bouts.

Waseem is currently under training at Las-Vegas under Jeff Mayweather, who is the uncle of world-famous-boxer Floyd Mayweather.

“I am honoured that I will be waving Pakistan flag once again,” he said, adding that this is an important fight for him and he hopes that nation will pray for him.

In July 2017, Waseem became the first Pakistani boxer to win the silver belt by beating Jether Oliva of Philippines in Seoul. It was a rare feat as he done it in his fourth fight.

He also ranked as top WBC flyweight boxer in 2017. He was the first Pakistani boxer to be listed as the number-one boxer in flyweight category.
