LAHORE: Four more members were sworn in as ministers in the Punjab interim cabinet on Friday, increasing the total number of caretaker ministers to 10.
The oath-taking ceremony took place at the Governor House in Lahore. The members who were sworn in included Saeedullah Babar, Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq, Noman Kabir and Tanveer Ilyas.
Babar has been appointed as the minister of environment protection and cooperatives, while Ilyas will take over the portfolio of planning and development, agriculture, and food. Kabir has been appointed as the minister for labour and human resource. He will also look after the transportation department, while Mushtaq has been named as the provincial education minister.
The other members of the caretaker cabinet include former WAPDA chairman Zafar Mahmood, former president Lahore chamber Anjum Nisar, former IG Punjab Shaukat Javed, Dr Jawad Sajid, Zia Haider Rizvi and Waqas Riaz.
On June 7, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) named Dr Hasan Askari as the caretaker chief minister of Punjab. The electoral body had nominated the analyst and professor as caretaker Punjab chief minister after a parliamentary committee failed to reach a consensus over the proposed candidates.
