KARACHI: Owners of industries in Port Qasim Authority (PQA) industrial zones were summoned by the Sindh Commission on Water and Sanitation constituted by the Supreme Court (SC) regarding an issue related to the release of untreated industrial waste into the sea.
The commission’s head, Justice (R) Amir Hani Muslim, had earlier visited the PQA after receiving several complaints pertaining to the issue.
The commission also inspected sites where the untreated waste was allegedly being discharged into the sea.
The commission issued notices to several industrialists seeking justification for the release of untreated industrial waste into the sea.
