LAHORE: The nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz for National Assembly’s NA-127 constituency were approved on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the judgment regarding the acceptance of her papers was reserved by a Returning Officer (RO) of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

In a challenging petition, Maryam Nawaz was accused of having two passports one with the name Maryam Nawaz and the other with the name Maryam Safdar, however, the RO rejected the objection.

It is pertinent to mention here that the decision on Maryam’s nomination papers for NA-127  was reserved by the RO after being challenged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Yasmin Rasheed.

During the session, the RO had asked Maryam how she would overcome water and terrorism issues to which, she had said that dams would be constructed to eliminate water crisis while her party has been taking steps to combat terrorism from the past five years.

Earlier, the scrutiny of PML-N leader Hamza Shehbaz’s papers was also completed whereas former Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif is yet to appear for the clearance.
