ISLAMABAD: The request for a residential plot in F-14 or F-15 sectors for former Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Chaudhry was deferred by the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) executive committee.

During his service, the former CJ was offered a plot in I-8 but he refused and the FGEHF was finding options for a few years now because former CJ Chaudhry wanted to avail the offer.

Under the Prime Minister’s Assistance PAckage for BS-22, the former CJ was offered a category-I plot in 2008 but he refused the offer through a letter by the Supreme Court (SC) registrar, which read, “The honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan has declined for the time being to accept the offer made by [FGEHF] dated 10-8-2009 for allotment of plot number 45-D, (measuring 60’x90’) sector I-8/2 Islamabad in his favour as his lordship had never asked for it, therefore, the said offered may be withdrawn immediately under intimation to this office.”

“The executive committee discussed the case today but decided to defer the matter. F-14 was under consideration, but we think the sector is not developed yet and it is appropriate to defer the matter,” said FGEHF Director General (DG) Waqas Mahmood.

The committee deliberated on the matter but then deferred it.
