Removal of Zulfi Bukhari’s name from ECL was ‘shocking development’ for NAB

ISLAMABAD: The departure of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader  Zulfiqar Hussain Bukhari aka Zulfi Bukhari to Saudi Arabia was a shocking development for National Accountability Bureau (NAB), reported a local English newspaper.

The anti-corruption watchdog was not informed why an accused on the Exit Control List (ECL) was allowed to leave the country. NAB is taking the issue seriously and further looking into the matter, media reports said.

The reports further stated that NAB was also surprised that interior ministry had referred the case to the special committee of the ministry which decides the cases of ECL.

As per a letter issued by the interior ministry, one-time “permission” was given to Bukhari for six days to perform Umrah.
