LAHORE: Former Punjab law minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart spoke to the media and said that he did not support the ouster of politicians and their disqualification had negative ramifications.

The former law minister gave this statement after the Supreme Court (SC) dismissed a plea against Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed.

The plea had been filed by PML-N’s Shakeel Awan who had lost the 2013 general election to Rasheed.

The petitioner had alleged that Rasheed had owned up to a misdeclaration in his nomination papers pertaining to his assets.

Sanullah further said that Rasheed’s political career should be ended and that the later should have adopted a positive outlook after the verdict.

Earlier, The AML chief had thanked God for “bestowing him with respect” and said that he would have accepted the verdict even if it came out against him because he “was not Nawaz Sharif”.

Meanwhile, Awan lamented, “The verdict on my case was reserved for 84 days by the Election Tribunal.”
