LAHORE: Decision on Maryam Nawaz’s nomination papers for NA-35 was reserved on Wednesday by the returning officer due to a challenge raised by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Yasmin Rashid.
The decision was reserved after Maryam attended the scrutiny process and hearing appeal filed by Yasmin when Pervez Malik, Maryam’s counsel explained that all relevant facts have been revealed in the nomination papers.
Yasmin Rashid had submitted a number of arguments against Maryam, explaining that PTI had raised 21 objections against her candidacy.
References filed in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), misrepresentation and irregularities in income and expense related information were among the reasons over which objections were raised.
Maryam, while addressing media outside the court, said that she does not intend to listen to verdict over Shiekh Rasheed’s disqualification.
“The whole nation predicted what would happen. What’s the use of hearing a verdict when you already know what it is going to be.”
“A dictator who abrogated the Constitution twice is asked by the judge to return home with security protocol promised,” she said, adding that her father Nawaz Sharif was being targeted as part of a script that has failed.
