Caretaker set up working impartially, within legal framework: CM

LAHORE: Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi on Wednesday said the caretaker government, with its performance, would restore the confidence of all political parties as it was working in an impartial manner and within the legal framework.

According to a statement issued here, the chief minister said that equal opportunities would be arranged for all political parties and everyone would be facilitated.

“We will ensure holding free and fair elections in line with the constitutional obligations and are sincerely striving to fulfill this national obligation,” he said and added that by the grace of Allah, they would come up to the expectations of the nation.

Askari said the provincial administration had been issued clear-cut instructions to fulfill the constitutional and legal responsibilities for a peaceful holding of general elections and made it clear that the caretaker government was following its mandate with complete commitment and all those constitutional steps would be followed that were the basis of peaceful and fair elections.

“Pakistan is at an important juncture of its democratic history and the caretaker government will ensure complete implementation of instructions issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP),” said Askari, adding that democracy was to be strengthened through elections and the caretaker government had to provide necessary cooperation to make the election process a success.

Separately, the caretaker chief minister congratulated Pakistan cricket team over its T20 win against Scotland. In a message issued here, Askari said the team had exhibited wonderful performance and victory was the result of hard work of players who had displayed sheer determination and defeated the opponent team.

He also expressed the hope that the national cricket team would continue the pace of success in future as well.
