ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s petition pertaining to London properties until June 20.

A division bench of IHC comprising of Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani took up Nawaz Sharif’s petition for hearing, which requested deferment of the final arguments in the case.

At the hearing, Khawaja Haris, legal advisor to Nawaz, did not appear in the court. His junior counsel requested the court to withdraw his power of attorney.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar told the court that power of attorney had been withdrawn before receiving the order of the Supreme court (SC). This petition had become ineffective after the SC orders.

NAB prosecutor informed that the court prosecution had completed its final arguments in Avenfield Properties reference.

Justice Amir Farooq ordered the court should continue its proceedings in the absence of a stay order.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani inquired whether Nawaz would come to the court in person to present his arguments. The legal advisor of the Sharif family refused to answer the question.  Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 20.
