ECP shares details of 12,000 candidates with NAB, FBR, SBP during vetting process

ISLAMABAD: During the vetting process of the nomination papers ahead of the upcoming polls, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has shared the details of 12,000 candidates with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The deadline to submit the nomination papers was June 11 while the process of scrutiny of nomination papers would conclude on June 19.

Hina Rabbani Khar, Asadullah Bhutto, Haroon Bilour and Faisal Vawda reportedly owed Rs550 million, Rs70 million, Rs50 million and Rs54 million respectively to banks.

Bank defaulters could be disqualified from contesting the upcoming general elections by the ECP.

Nomination papers could be withdrawn on June 29 while the ECP would issue election symbols on June 30.
