CTD arrests three ‘militants’ in Karachi

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested three persons who allegedly had ties with banned outfits.

CTD Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Junaid Ahmed Shaikh said that Shahsawar, Khalid Pervez and Mujeeb Rehman, the suspected militants, had been arrested during raids and donation slips had also been retrieved from them.

The SSP claimed that the arrested suspects were involved in collecting donations from various parts of the city for their banned organisations.

One of the suspects was a local university graduate while another was a self-proclaimed Quranic scholar, according to SSP Shaikh.

Shahsawar was suspected to be an “important activist” of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) Pakistan, Rehman was allegedly affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and Pervez was an information technology (IT) expert and was associated with the Islamic State (IS), according to the CTD SSP.
