Two labourers dead as Shangla coalmine collapses

ALPURI: Two labourers died when a portion coalmine collapsed here on Monday.

Rescue sources said that a portion of coal mine located in Shangla caved in when the labourers were engaged in routine work.

Two labourers who were trapped under the debris and died in the incident and it will take at least two days to recover the bodies from the rubble, the rescue sources said.

The labourers held a protest demonstration against the poor security arrangements for the coalminers as more than 100 miners have died during last one year.

The protestors demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) to take the notice of the deaths of coalmine labourers and direct the authorities concerned to ensure preventive measures for the labourers working in various coal mines.
