Amritsar police on Monday said that it would have a pigeon x-rayed over suspicions of spying for Pakistan, Times of India reported.

As per the details, police in Ajnala town of Amritsar district would have the bird examined to ascertain it did not have any spying gadget embedded to its body and to rule out the possibility of any coded messages.

According to Times of India, the pigeon was found by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) close to the border with Pakistan and was later handed over to local police for further probe.

The report went on to say that the conveying of coded messages through the bird was not a rare occurrence on the Punjab side of the border.
