ISLAMABAD: The committee constituted by the chairman of the Board of Governors (BOGs) of COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI) has cleared unverified plagiarism charges against all the seven research papers of COMSATS University Islamabad Rector Professor Dr Raheel Qamar.
The committee was constituted to probe charges of plagiarism against Dr Qamar, which were levelled against him on social media. The committee concluded that the allegations were of non-serious nature.
The committee also recommended that the plagiarism policy of Higher Education Commission (HEC) should be revised so that it does not apply to materials already published earlier by the authors elsewhere (so-called materials published prior to 2009 as the software to check plagiarism was not available in most universities in Pakistan).
