In response to the statements issued by the prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in the corruption references against ex-PM Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan said on Sunday it is a tragedy that two parallel ‘Pakistans’ exist where the law works differently for ordinary citizens and the powerful.

Taking to Twitter, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief wrote, “Law works differently for the ordinary citizen and for the powerful. This is our tragedy – existence of 2 parallel Pakistans.”

He stated that NAB prosecutor’s statement was there is ample evidence to show that the Avenfield apartments belonged to Nawaz Sharif since 1993.

“PML-N Ministers and many media persons knew about these flats since 3 years when Panama leaks surfaced. After all, political meetings and interviews were held there but they just watched PM Nawaz Sharif lie about money laundering, committed fraud and forgery, made his children lie,” he added.

He said, “Public money spent on SC hearings, JIT, NAB court & conviction still pending. This reflects collapse of morality; weak infrastructures. Where in a Western democracy would one see a PM indulging in lies, money laundering & fraud & then shamelessly claiming victimhood when exposed?”

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has directed the accountability court to wrap up the trial against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members in the corruption references filed by the NAB within a month.
