KU teachers issued warnings by ECP over refusal to perform election duties

KARACHI: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday issued warning notices to teachers of Karachi University (KU) who are unwilling to perform election duties.

“Teachers cannot refuse to perform election duties,” said Sindh Election Commissioner Yousaf Khattak.

Speaking further about the preparations for the upcoming elections, Khattak stated that the ECP is managing the situation well at the moment and does not require the caretaker governments help as yet.

According to media reports on Friday, the KU Teachers Society had refused to perform election duties and condemned threats been given to teachers via phone calls for refusing to do so.
