2018 marks Karan Johar’s 20th anniversary in Bollywood; his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai featuring Shah Rukh Khan released in 1998. To celebrate this, the filmmaker has announced that he will be taking the director’s seat once again after a break of almost 2 years. His last directorial venture was Ae Dil Hai Mushkil which released in 2016 and also featured Fawad Khan.

Speaking about this directorial venture with Hindustan Times, Johar remarked that he would love to work with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan once again.

“I just can’t wait to share cinema space with Shah Rukh again. In the last few years, we co-produced films together including Student Of The Year (2012) and Dear Zindagi (2016) but now I can’t wait to collaborate with him in a full-fledged manner because I know whenever we do something together, it will be extraordinary and amazing,” Karan said.

He added, “SRK isn’t just a part of my career; he is a part of my life as well. Shah Rukh, Gauri and the kids – Aryan, Suhana and AbRam – are my immediate family. I won’t even use the word friendship. Apart from my dad (late Yash Johar) and mum, I consider Shah Rukh and Adi (Aditya) Chopra’s families my other families in Mumbai. They are always going to be in every part and beat of my life.”

Though the director did not reveal whether his next film will star SRK, Johar said, “I know one thing. Shah Rukh has been one of my best experiences in cinema ever and it’s something that I can’t wait to repeat.”

This partnership is also something that we can’t wait for either. The duo has given us some of the most iconic films of all times including the ever-favourite Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham.
