Afridi urges CJP to ‘take out time to visit lower courts’

Former Pakistan cricket caption and star all-rounder skipper Shahid Afridi on Wednesday advised the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar to “fix the black sheep within” by taking out time to visit the lower courts.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Afridi commended the CJP for taking a stand on issues of public welfare. However, he suggested that there was a need for introspection within the institution of judiciary.

The 38-year-old wrote, “Want to congratulate the Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar for commendable & remarkable job. His surprise visits have been of great service to nation.”

“However, I would like to suggest that If he can also take out time to visit lower courts so that he can fix the blacksheeps within as-well.”

He lauded the efforts of the top judge by highlighting the human rights issue by surprise visits at various institutions.

This is not the first time Afridi has commented on political issues. During an interview in 2015, the all-rounder said, “Nawaz Sharif is sincere with the country. Imran Khan likes the pace of T20 cricket, but he can reach his desired destination if he waits.”

The heartthrob cricketer recently played his last international match while captaining the World XI side against West Indies. The charity match was organised to raise money for the reconstruction of stadiums in the Caribbean after hurricanes wreaked havoc in the region last year.
