NAB references eclipse Maryam Nawaz’s political future

LAHORE: Even though Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz has gotten a green signal from the central parliamentary board of the party to contest elections from Lahore’s NA 125, formerly known as NA 120, her political career remains in the doldrums because of the graft references filed against her.

If Maryam is convicted in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) references filed against her and family, her political future may end before it can even take off. But she gets acquitted then she will be contesting from the same constituency which had returned Nawaz Sharif to the National Assembly in 1997 and again in 2013.

Former first daughter is currently facing corruption charges pertaining acquisition of the Avenfield apartments through offshores companuies.
