ISLAMABAD: An 18-point reform agenda developed by senior academicians, vice chancellors and representatives of civil society organisations would be discussed with political parties for inclusion in their election manifestos.
Working Group on Higher Education Reforms (WGHER) and Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS), in collaboration with the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) and ten other organisations presented the reform agenda to political parties.
The 18-point agenda advocates for introducing meritocracy in the education sector, increase allocation of financial resources and providing greater autonomy to universities in conducting research.
Other salient aspects of the agenda includes adopting policies to improve tolerance on campuses and encouraging technologically oriented teaching.
Sharing the strategy, Inter University Consortium National Coordinator Murtaza Noor said that a delegation of partner organisations would meet senior leadership of political parties for inclusion of this reform agenda in their election manifestos.
