Fans not happy with Pakistan women’s playing kit for Asia Cup

Some fans expressed their discontentment with the recent kit of Pakistan women’s team, saying the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not mentioned ‘Pakistan’ on the front side as compared to other teams which is a common practice.

Cricket analyst Shoaib Jatt wrote on Twitter, “[They] have removed Pakistan name from women’s shirts. Have a look at other team captains shirts’ their country name is prominent and viable but in Pak captain shirts its missing.”

He also related the issue with Pakistan men’s Test team sweater which removed the previously iconic green stripe.

Responding to the queries, PCB said in its statement, “Pakistan playing kit for ACC Women’s Asia Cup is as per the event clothing rules.”

“The kit is adorned by regular features like the logo as well as the national flag while the kit colour is the traditional Pakistan green,” the board added.

In March, PCB had announced that it will “seriously inquire” the issue of missing green stripe on Pakistan’s Test sweater. Pakistan Test kit always has a green strip on borders of its sweater but the new ones designed for Ireland-England tour are completely white.

The matter was pointed out by former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram on social media. He said: “Where is the green stripe gone from our sweater? Not cool.”
