Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo would like a return to Manchester United, believes ex-England manager Fabio Capello.

According to TalkSport, Portugal forward, 33, sparked speculation surround his future after winning a third consecutive Champions League with Los Blancos.

First, Ronaldo insisted he would clarify his plans, before telling supporters at their trophy parade he would see them ‘next year’.

But, just days after Zinedine Zidane announced his resignation at the Bernabeu, former Real Madrid boss Capello gave his thoughts on the situation.

He told Sky Sports Italia: “I think that Cristiano Ronaldo wants to go back to Manchester, to play for United and being coached by his compatriot Mourinho.”

Speaking further on the issue, he added Los Blancos would have to make a big move to replace him, and tipped the club to swoop for Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski.

The Italian added: “Real Madrid would need to recover from Ronaldo’s loss in terms of goals scored. The only available name at the moment is Robert Lewandowski.

“[Karim] Benzema might stay, [Florentino] Perez is still a big fan of him.”
