SHC directs JIT for renewed probe in missing person case

HYDERABAD: In a case pleading for recovery of a missing person, Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the Joint Investigation Team for a renewed probe and for making a reputable police officer a part of that inquiry.

The Hyderabad circuit bench here on Thursday gave the JIT three weeks for holding a session in which Inspector Siraj Lashari, currently posted in Jamshoro district, should also be included.

The petitioner Neelum Arejo, daughter of the missing person Khadim Hussain Arejo, through her counsel rejected the JIT’s previous report which was based on three separate sessions of inquiry on the SHC’s order.

The SHC directed the JIT to make joint efforts for recovery of the missing person. The JIT was asked to use modern technology, electronic and print media for the purpose. The JIT would have to submit its detailed progress report on or before the next date of hearing on July 3.

According to the petitioner, Arejo was a Food Inspector who went missing after he left home for office on April 4.
