PESHAWAR: Bacha Khan International Airport in Peshawar was shut down for “large airplanes” on Friday for repair work.

An airport official explained that soaring heat has resulted in the taxiway becoming ‘puffy’, forcing authorities to partially suspend operations.

The facility will be operational on June 5 after repair work is completed, forcing flights scheduled to use Peshawar’s airport to utilise the Islamabad International Airport.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), flight timings would remain unaffected and passengers are being informed over the issue.

An official from the CAA offered his apologies for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said that they are being contacted on the phone numbers provided at the time of booking.
