PM gives cash award to two citizens on valour in Neelum Bridge collapse incident

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has approved the immediate provision of three million rupees to the parent of Saim Shafaat, son of Shafaat Hussain, and Rs one million as a reward to Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah.

The reward was given in recognition of sacrifice and heroic efforts made during the unfortunate incident of a bridge collapse in District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on May 13.

Saim Shafat, aged 12 years, sacrificed his life while making a heroic effort to warn tourists of the imminent collapse of the bridge in the Kundal Shai area of District Neelum, Azad Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of an incident.

Mukhtiar son of Zeetullah risked his life to save two tourists from drowning during the same incident.

The Prime Minister has directed Finance Division to immediately transfer the amount to the government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) for onward payment to the nominees.
