Gender Parity Report shows positive trends in Punjab

LAHORE: Female voter registration in Punjab have portrayed a positive trajectory from 2013 to 2017 according to the Punjab Gender Parity Report (PGPR).

According to the report, labour force participation is 28percent while female literacy is 54pc.

7,678 cases of violence against women have also been reported, according to the PGRP.

Punjab Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) Chairperson Fauzia Viqar said that the PGPR would help policymakers identify the problems.

Finance Minister Aisha Ghous Pasha appreciated the work done by PCSW pertaining to participation of women in the public sector, scholarships for women, hostel facilities for women and health services geared towards special needs of women.
