Federal govt repeals colonial-era FCR, notifies interim govt regulation 2018 in FATA

ISLAMABAD: The federal government notified the FATA Interim Government Regulation, 2018, repealing the colonial-era Frontier Crimes Regulations and declared the tribal agencies as tribal districts, reported a local English newspaper.

Furthermore, the position of political agents has been changed to deputy commissioners as a prelude to the FATA’s merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The FATA regulation law, signed into law by President Mamnoon Hussain, FATA regulation is aimed at providing “an interim system of justice, maintenance of peace and good governance in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA)”.
