LAHORE: In a disappointing turn of events, the Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) have banned the much-awaited Bollywood film Veere Di Wedding from releasing Pakistan. The film is scheduled to release worldwide on June 1.
According to reports, the Kareena Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor-starrer has been banned due to vulgar language, objectionable sexual dialogues and the theme of the film.
All members of the board unanimously decided to ban the film while the distributors also withdrew their application to release it in Pakistan after viewing its questionable content.
Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, the film is centred around the friendship of four friends, among which one of them is getting married. However, the film’s producers have said that it is not a chick flick!
Apart from Kareena and Sonam, the film also features Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania.
The film also apparently found itself in hot waters with the Indian Censor Board. However, the film’s producer Rhea Kapoor denied all such allegations.
The cast has been extensively promoting the film and the hype surrounding the film had also made its way to this side of the border.
Meanwhile, fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment in the decision.
Censor board has confirmed that #VeereDiWedding is going to be banned in Pakistan because of “vulgarity” and also “theme.”
Why can’t Pakistan tolerate women living it up however they want. Not even surprised anymore tbh.

A film about a bunch of badass ladies being banned by a bunch of grumpy men, why am I not surprised?
