PFA seals two factories for substandard food items

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed on Tuesday two factories for supplying substandard chemicals and artificial flavours to adulteration and making fake juices and fizzy carbonated drinks.

Teams raided QBC Fruit Base and Ashraf Fruit Base in the Sabzazar area and confiscated 2,500 kg fruit base, and the rusted machinery being used in the preparation of adulterated products. Also, the PFA has closed down 10 food businesses for not complying of the rules in the province.

The teams sealed one tobacco shop in Multan over selling banned ‘gutka’, two points in Faisalabad, three in Rawalpindi and four eateries in Dera Ghazi Khan division.

The food watchdog imposed a Rs160,500 fine in south Punjab, Rs26,000 in Rawalpindi, Rs27,000 in Faisalabad and Rs218,000 in Gujranwala.
